Well, it may not be 70%. It might be more! Whatever, listening to the Requiem will help us understand how our voice parts fit into the sound overall. That’s an important step towards the unified sound of a single choir rather than several groups of people doing their own thing. Here are a couple versions of the Requiem with the piano duet that we’ll be using in our concert: Ein Deutsches Requiem – Rundfunkchor, Berlin and Ein Deutsches Requiem – The Sixteen. They’re both beautiful. Listening to either helps to get to grips with the piece overall as well as understanding where our own voice parts need to lead – and where we should hang back to let others shine.
